Microsoft 365 is rolling out a single main sharing link for files and folders in OneDrive and SharePoint. Late August through October. Copy link, email it, or grab the address out of the browser — it’s the same link. You can change who it works for after you’ve already sent it, instead of making a new one and hoping people use the new one.

That’s useful. Most offices have three copies of the same quote floating around because someone shared it “anyone with the link,” then shared it again when the lawyer needed it, then again for the vendor. The old links don’t go away just because you sent a tighter one.

Default is view, and only people already on the file. You can open it up if policy allows. Existing links still work. Admins can set the default per site. There isn’t a one-click setting for the whole company yet.

If a Brownsboro shop lives in OneDrive, the job this month is simple: pick who a new share should go to by default, and tell people they don’t need a fresh link every time the audience changes. Don’t turn on “anyone” just because the dialog looks different.
