SpaceXSI released Grok Voice 3.0 on October 14. It is a new speech-to-speech model that listens and talks back in natural conversation. The launch came with a real-world number that should catch the eye of any business owner who answers phones.
Starlink call centers use Grok Voice to answer about 20,000 customer calls every day in several languages. SpaceXSI says roughly 70 percent of those calls are resolved with no human involved. The company also says one in four sales calls ends in a purchase before the caller hangs up.
A single agent built on the model verifies customers and troubleshoots hardware. It can also issue credits and ship replacement equipment. That is a full help desk workflow handled by voice.
Elon Musk shared the news on X the same afternoon. He wrote, "Grok Voice 3.0 is now the world's leading conversational voice model."
The model is available through the Voice Agent API. An API, or application programming interface, is the connection that lets other software use the model. The price is $0.08 per minute, which works out to $4.80 per hour. That is the same price as Grok Voice 2.0.
SpaceXSI cites independent testing from Artificial Analysis, where Grok Voice 3.0 scored 86.9 on its Speech-to-Speech Index. The company also reports response times under one second. Those details matter because callers hang up on slow or awkward systems.
This is good news for small businesses. AI voice agents are no longer a lab demo or a big-company luxury. They are answering real customer calls at scale for a few cents a minute.
For a small office, the practical use is easy to picture. An AI agent could answer common questions after the front desk gets busy. It could take messages, check order status, or route urgent calls to the right person. Your staff would then have more time for the conversations that need a human touch.
A good rollout still starts with the basics. Your phone system, internet connection, and customer data need to be reliable and secure before any new tool connects to them. It also helps to decide which calls should always reach a person.
