FCC Opens More Bandwidth for Broadband Satellites
Friday, October 02, 2026The Federal Communications Commission adopted an order on September 30, 2026, and released it the next day as FCC 26-65, opening more than 1,000 megahertz in the 12.7–13.25 GHz and 42–42.5 GHz bands for satellite communications. The Commission says that spectrum is meant to add capacity for satellite broadband to the home, for service on aircraft and ships, and for the ground stations that carry the traffic. Companies in East Texas that already rely on satellite circuits because fiber has not reached the property have a real opening: operators can now ask permission to use bands that were closed to this kind of service.... Thursday, October 01, 2026SpaceX has three rockets scheduled today, and that is a good morning for a Texas business owner. Crew-13 is set to lift off from Cape Canaveral at 11:10 a.m. Eastern, 10:10 a.m. Central. The crew is NASA astronauts Watkins and Delaney, Canadian astronaut Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Teteryatnikov.
