Nvidia Rotated Brev SSH Keys After a Cloud Breach

Nvidia notified affected customers of unauthorized activity on its Brev cloud development platform (an Nvidia service for SI and GPU workloads) between October 4 and October 20, 2026. According to the company's notice, the exposed information may include the Secure Shell (SSH) key that Brev created for each customer's virtual machine. SSH is the secure login developers use to run commands on a remote server, so a stolen key can work like a spare front-door key if other security controls are weak or missing.

The good news is that Nvidia has already rotated those keys and updated customer virtual machines with the replacements. The company also said it isn't aware of anyone misusing the keys. It hasn't publicly explained how the unauthorized activity occurred or whether any customer workloads or data were accessed. Tom's Hardware and The Times of India both quoted the customer letter on November 2.

If your team uses Brev or a similar cloud developer platform, the protective steps are simple. Confirm that your machines are working with the new keys Nvidia issued. Review your login and access logs from October 4 through today for anything unfamiliar. Rotate any other credentials associated with those machines, including API tokens and cloud console passwords. Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) wherever the platform offers it. It also helps to keep a short list of the cloud tools your staff actually use, so a forgotten account doesn't sit unmanaged.

Notices like this are a good reminder that cloud keys deserve the same care as office passwords. Treating every SSH key and cloud secret as something that expires, and replacing it on a schedule, beats waiting for the next vendor email.
